The AToN Center specializes in the treatment of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Our integrated services approach offers each client the opportunity to engage in a variety of addiction treatment methods inclusive of: comprehensive psychological assessment, recovery study work, intensive cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure therapies, and offsite community support meetings. We conduct three hours of group therapy and one hour of individual therapy daily. Family sessions are also offered and encouraged. It is our belief that a “one size fits all” approach to addiction recovery can be ineffective, and that each client deserves the opportunity to experience a multitude of therapeutic approaches in order to create a treatment plan that best fits their unique needs and experiences.
Biofeedback
Biofeedback is a specialty area in the field of psychology that teaches how to increase physiological and psychological awareness. Individuals learn how to manage their physiological reactions to stressful events and improve coping skills for relapse prevention. Participants see their physiological activity on a computer screen and recognize how their physiology changes depending on thoughts, emotions and behaviors. This feedback helps them to understand the impact of the mind/body connection. At AToN, Dr. Cassandra Cannon specifically practices Heart Rate Variability biofeedback, a modality used to help individuals retrain the autonomic nervous system most commonly known as the “fight or flight” and “rest and digest” systems and gain autonomic balance. Biofeedback helps many individuals experience improvements in their health and well being, including addiction recovery.
