Many treatment centers state that they are “evidence based.” But what exactly does that mean? Some may say that because they use some modalities that are evidence based (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) that they are an evidence based program. It is important to note that just because the clinicians may use these types of therapies, how effective are they in delivering this treatment? There are many skill levels out there and one clinician delivering interventions will be better than another . . . so how do you know how effective these practitioners are?
AToN Center seeks to be completely transparent about our program and the skill level of our clinicians. As quality treatment is of the upmost importance, you will find that all of our mental health practitioners are doctoral level, and all of our chemical dependency counselors are Level II certified. Additionally, AToN conducts ongoing research and places the results on our webpage. While our research is not perfect (we are not able to utilize control groups and experimental groups or conduct double blind studies!) we do present the information we have in an effort to not only demonstrate our effectiveness, but to encourage other treatment centers to do the same.
