Often we can get tripped up in our recovery when we either dwell in the past or anxiously anticipate the future. Some cognitive distortions can be related to this concept: fortune telling, catastrophizing, jumping to conclusions and magnification.
When you find yourself losing focus on what is your number one priority, complete and total sobriety, take a moment to refocus on the here and now, stay in the moment, and ground yourself.
Reach out to your friends in recovery, head to a meeting, or seek to serve someone in need. These actions can help you draw strength and revitalize your recovery.
