Staying GroundedOften we can get tripped up in our recovery when we either dwell in the past or anxiously anticipate the future.  Some cognitive distortions can be related to this concept:  fortune telling, catastrophizing, jumping to conclusions and magnification. 
 
When you find yourself losing focus on what is your number one priority, complete and total sobriety, take a moment to refocus on the here and now, stay in the moment, and ground yourself. 
 
Reach out to your friends in recovery, head to a meeting, or seek to serve someone in need.  These actions can help you draw strength and revitalize your recovery.
