We live in a challenging world full of possible stressors, demand at work and home and on ourselves. The practice of Mindfulness helps the individual be true to one’s own self. Being true to one’s self require and honest review of our personal character strengths and shortcomings.
The process of Mindfulness suggests a playful, childlike sense of wonderment as we review our thoughts and emotions; our strengths and areas that need improvement.
Taking the time to reflect on one’s own morals, values and actions helps define who we are as seen by others. More importantly, taking time throughout the day to reflect inwardly allows us to take actions that make us feel good about ourselves. Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching’s words remind us: “When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everyone will respect you.”
